| Post subject: | Kernel 2.6.12.2, network doesn't work |
Tried to upgrade from 2.6.9-chw-4 to 2.6.12.2 but ethernet doesn't seem to be working. ifconfig shows that eth0 has the correct ip address 192.168.1.100 I can ping 192.168.1.100 but nothing else Any ideas? |

Hi Make sure that the nameserver in /etc/resolve.conf is setup correctly. It might of been cleared when you installed the new kernel. |

Thanks, I had a look at resolve.conf, and it appears to be correct. However, looking further, it seems that what used to be eth0 is now called eth1 .... anyways, it's working now, but it would be nice to learn why it was changed, and how to change it back ... |

quick guess is that eth0 is now a ieee1394 network device. Stock R5A16 had some steps taken to keep the ieee1394 ethernet driver from being loaded, so that network cards would not be forced to eth1. |
