never used that exact remote..but it depends on what receiver your using.. if you make your own, or use an IR-man then _pretty_much any remote will work.. you just need to prgram lirc for that remote. a long time ago i did a howto: http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2298&highlight=lirc |

Thanks for the fast reply gr8nash! I did look at your post and got a good idea how LIRC works. However, the impression I am getting is that the Nova-T style cards use the /dev/input/event0 device handle. Someone on google mentioned you don't even need LIRC. I don't believe that! I have limited experience with 2.6 and not sure if Knoppmyth has all the relevant modules compiled in. Would like to hear from anyone who uses a Nova-T with Knoppmyth and has got the remote to work. Otherwise I'll do what you suggest and get a serial based one. Plenty of HOWTO's to get that working. Thanks again! Dan |

I'm in the process of trying to get a Nova-T to work with KnoppMyth and what you have read is right, you do no need lirc. This unfortunately means it's harder to make things work, because the kernel (module?) supplied with KnoppMyth does not handle the new "silver remote". You get a lot of "unknown key" errors, and as far as I understand they can only be handled by a recompile. Here's the link I found http://mythtv.info/moin.cgi/HardWare_2f ... ls_2fNovaT |
