Have anyone install KnoppMyth on external USB HDD? I try to install KM on my Speedano USB HDD, but meet problem: - Computer: Dell Inspiron 600M. - External HDD: Speedano 2 plug on USB 2.0 port. Boot from R5 KM CD, after boot I choose Option 4: manual install. Then partitioning: SD1: boot, SD5: swap, SD6: cache, SD7: myth After installation, I can not boot from USB HDD: Error loading operting system. Please help. |

Need help. I have installled KM on external HDD Speedano 2 USB, my laptop is Dell Inspiron 600M. Belows is detail of process: 1. Boot from KnoppMyth R5 CD. 2. Choose manual install 3. Choose partition(option 3): Choose disk: sda, then partition as follow: sda1 boot primary linux ext2 2500 sda5 logical linux swap 1019 sda6 logical linux ext2 2500 sda7 logical linux ext3 74000 4. Choose configure installation(option 1) to create a new configuration: - Choose partition to install KnoppMyth: /dev/sda1 - Choose where the boot-loader shall be installed: mbr. 5. Choose start installation(option2): I saw some informations on screen as belows: /dev/sda1 will be formatted with the ext3 filesystem. Bootloader-options: No bootdisk will be created. The bootloader will be used and installed in mbr. I choose YES to install with this configs. After Installation, reboot system and choose boot from usb hdd, system warning: error loading OS. |

Have you double checked your BIOS to make sure you have the boot order set up properly? You may also need to create a special initrd image for lilo to load the USB storage drivers from... A google search for how to boot Linux from a USB device might also help... |

I have doubled checked my bios, it support boot from usb device. Please give me detail instruction to create initrd image for lilo to load usb storage driver. THX tjc |

I don't know the answer off the top of my head and would have to research it just like you would. It might take you a bit longer to do the research but I also figure that since it's your system, you should be more than a bit more interested in making this work than I am. I.e. - solving for 'X' in the equation below would yield a number substantially larger than 1. X = (Interest_in_outcome_tntrung / Interest_in_outcome_tjc) / (Research_time_tntrung / Research_time_tjc) ![]() |
