edit your /etc/lilo.conf file and change vga=??? to vga=normal then run lilo -v this can be done from a root xterm or ssh. |

once you do what I said ctrl+alt+F? will work, however you will have to use either xterm or ssh to make the changes I described. After reboot the consoles should work. |

Post subject: | Network started? |
Thanks again for your help. It seems (may not be a truth) that the network is not started so how would I ssh from another machine to this one? Is the network started right after the install? I am thinking not since all the network configuration is not done yet (like dhcp etc). again thanks for your help |

no the network is not started right after install it is started after you run through the first setup script when X starts up. I guess what you are saying is X won't start, and you have no console. This makes things a bit more difficult. the only way to fix it is to boot off the cd with the tv boot option then mount the harddrive chroot change lilo and run lilo -v There should be some more detailed instructions on the forum somewhere. |
