Post subject:  Epia + xvmc + codecs != working

Hi,

Im trying to build a mythtv system to play streams from the internet,
Because of this i'm using the mythstream plugin which works pretty good.

I modified the theme files to drop all buttons but the once i want, and i recompiled mplayer with all of the codecs needed to play a load of different media formats.

The problem is that when playing files from apple's trailer database (which are mov files) i cannot use xvmc and ffmpegmc12 because it cannot find a codec for the requested file format which plays nice with xvmc.

without xmvc (and with -vo xv) it does play in mplayer, but it plays jerky in the mythstream plugin, also the screenratio is borked when i fullscreen it, this resizing might just be why the video is jerky, but i cannot find the options to scale it normally. (fullscreening it in mplayer from the cli wrks like a charm though)

i recompiled mpayer with the needed --enable-xvmc --with-xvmc-lib=viaXmc** thingys and it worked.

the old mplayer is still here but it doesn't play any of the patended files (which i do need to use)

browsing the internet, google, sourceforge, epiawiki, knoppmythfaq, forums etc didn't really give me a sollution.

Due to DMCA, patents, etc. I cannot include certaib codecs. If you want to recompile MPlayer to play these files, you can.

Hi,

I did recompile Mplayer, but it seems i cannot get it to play any file trough xvmc, i always get an error stating it cannot find a codec matching the selected vo device and video stream.

How did you recompile MPlayer? Which version did you recompile? Did you apply the XvMC patch? I've included a patch in /usr/src that included the patch, but it only works for the included version. Ivor, has a patch for the CVS version of MPlayer.
