Is there a way to force KnoppMyth to reset itself BACK to where it was after the initial disk imaging? I.E. Reboot, it asks for the root password and goes through all the postboot questions.

I would like to basically re-install w/o reformatting. There are certain things I'd like to retain, like /etc/fstab /etc/X11 /etc/network which I can re-copy back.

I'm ok with blowing away /cache, /home/mythtv, database, etc...

SO: How can this be done *WITHOUT* using the install CD.

What are the steps to do this?

Perhaps a search of the forum? What is it you are trying to accomplish? Rerunning those scripts maynot solve your problem.

Every now and then mythtv freaks out and stops working. I can't do channel searches, just freezes up. The only way I found to bring it back is by re-installing.

What you want to do isn't going to solve your problem. This doesn't reinstall MythTV. You need to investigate why it is freezing up. What you taken a look at the logs? What is your hardware setup? Start this in a new thread.

The freezing MAY have been caused by XFConfig-4 mouse settings set to "USB" vice "PS/2". The multiple freezing and hard resets finally corrupted the database.

Now I *DO* have a wireless keyboard/mouse, but it's not USB. Could it be that R5A26 incorrectly detects it as USB?
