Post subject: | Install hangs just after mouse detection |
Hello everyone ![]() I'm using the latest build of Knoppmyth as of this posting (KnoppMythR5A30.2) trying to install it on an old Dell Poweredge 6300 I had a few issues with the SCSI devices but got around them by using expert mode and specifying the drivers but, now the install hangs directly after detecting the mouse any ideas? what does it try to do right after the mouse detection? (i've tried unplugging the mouse incase it was actually the mouse that was making it hang, that was not it) -Rob |

Any luck with your issue? I'm having similar issues at install, however I do get one step further. After mouse detection comes soundcard. I'm booting KnoppMyth R5B7 off CDROM and it stops on "Soundcard: driver=ALSA(autodetect)". This is the next step after the mouse detection. Windows and FreeBSD boot fine, I've tried different HD's (PATA), pulled all PCI cards, disabled all possible embedded devices via BIOS, took RAM down to 512Mb (from 2GB). No change. One observation, the mouse is detected as a "Generic PS/2 Wheel Mouse" when no mouse is attached and even when the PS2 port is disabled is BIOS. Go figure. The system is a Dell WS610 (BIOS A11 -latest rev), dual 400MHz PII XEONs, SCSI CDROM, 8gb and 40gb IDE HDs, Matrox G200 AGP card. -Bob |
