At present I can watch live tv with the WATCH TV button, but can only access 1 single DTV channel (and it's sub-channels - such as 11_1 and 11_2).

The channel I am limited to is the default start channel that you set in the mythtv-setup windows. If I set the default start channel to 2_1, I can only view 2_1. If I set the default start channel to 11_1, I can only view 11_1 and 11_2.

Scheduled recordings seem to work fine on all DTV channels.

With the newest nvidia driver 8756, I get live tv ok with the mpeg2 decoder set to either - VxMC, or standard. With the previous nvidia driver, I could not get live tv when the VxMC decoder was selected.

Eric

I'd be glad to look and report back but I have no idea where any logs are. Let me know and I'll go look!

Also, is there a way to copy text from a shell window and paste it into this forum? The standard Ctrl-c, Ctrl-v does not work!

Thanks!
Eric

Using what? Unix to unix under X, left button, hold sweep, release, to grab. Middle button to paste. Using putty, grab is the same, right button pastes. When you cross the line from putty to/from MS-Windows you use the MS mouse commands on the MS side.

Here is a snip from the mythbackend.log

At the start of this session, I was watching an HDTV show on OTA channel 2_1 with WATCH TV button. When I tried to switch channels with the arrow keys, the errors started. First I tried to change down to analog channel 2 and the up to analog channel 4.

At the end of this I hit the ESC key to end the experiment.

As an additional note, I just deleted the tuner card, re-added it and rescanned all the local channels. This time I named all my digital channels with a dash between the main channel and the sub channel (example: 4-1, 4-2, etc) rather than an underscore as before.

I found I am able to key in the channel numbers (example: 11-1) and change channels. Once on a channel I can tune within the sub-channels using the up/down arrows, but I cannot change off the main digital channel. (example: if I'm on 11-1, I can't simply change down to 9-1 with the arrows)

I've also observed in the transport editor screen that there are transport items with 0,0,0,0 for data. Could this be a problem? Can I purge these transport entries somehow?

Over the weekend I learned that there is a bug with the apt-get procedure that has been known since August 2005 - but never fixed.
(The sources.list file sends apt-get off to get files from the unstable file folders on the various servers. Thus using apt-get can blow up your whole install and cause a complete reload.)
I had used apt-get to install the Firefox web browser when I set up my machine a month ago. I wonder if some of my unknown problems have been caused by the unfixed apt-get bug???

Eric

I think the install I was detailing above was screwed up because of the apt-get bug.

I reinstalled the R5B7 cd same as before but did not use apt-get for anything this time.

Channels change correctly now. Programs record ok. Live tv works fine.

So, BEWARE using apt-get in KnoppMyth. The sources.list file embedded in the KnoppMyth install cd sends you to unstable file sources that will blow up your installation and require reinstall to fix!

Good luck!
Eric
