According to the DVI specifications, a single link's maximum is 1920x1080p, you might be running into some limitations of either the hardware or the drivers.

Yeah, the actual DVI spec supports it. But nvidia's DVI spec does not. The maximum advertised single-link DVI resolution on many of their cards is only 1600x1200. You CAN get some monitors to sync at lower than 60hz and get higher resolution than 1600x1200, but most of the time a sync frequency of less than 60hz on a TV results in a really dark, ugly picture.

I know I've read the same thing about nvidia & single link DVI but I got it working no problem on a Geforce MX 4000 via single link DVI to a Mitsubishi WD-52327. It took powerstrip in windows to get me a good modline:
"1920x1080" 74.250 1920 2008 2052 2200 1080 1084 1094 1125 interlace +hsync +vsync

but it works great on a single 6 foot DVI cable...

Well, I have finally been able to get a 1080i resolution on my Westinghouse LVM-37w1 monitor. All it took was a new video card. I figured my GeForce FX 5200 was not cutting the mustard, so I shopped around and got a GeForce 6200, as recommended by the wiki. First time I fired up the box I got a nice stable picture. So anyone out there struggling to get 1080i working over DVI on a FX 5200, you may want to think about a 6200.
