Post subject:  Slight HDTV stuttering fixed!

Hello,

I am sharing my problem and solution for others to try.

Problem: 1080i and 720p TV content had a slight stutter. Nothing major, it was like the video would play at 30fps vs. 60fps, changing through out the program. It was most noticeable during a medium to slow pan of a landscape or vista.

Solution: Installed nvidia 7676 drivers. I was using the drivers that came with Knoppmyth and tried upgrading the latest (8762), however that did not solve the problem. I found some advice to use the 7676 drivers. I did and now im a believer. I have no more stuttering, I have other problems but the 60fps dipping to lower frame rates is now gone!

Here is the link to all Linux Nvidia drivers: http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_display_archive.html, look for 1.0-7676.

My specs:
CPU: P4 2.8ghz prescott
MB: Intel D865PERL
RAM: 512MB DDR400 dual channel
Video: fx5200 128mb
TV card: Fusion HDTV 3 (using QAM/Digital Cable)
HDD: Hitachi 7TK250 250GB
Sound: SB Live!

Thanks 'nate, I will have to try that.

What MPEG decoder were you using? (e.g. XVMC/libmpeg2/standard)
