Post subject:  OTA HD & QAM at the same time?

My system is as follows:
Code:
KM 30.2
Asus A7N8X Deluxe
Athlon XP3200+
2 x 256 Corsair XMS 256 LL
WD 80 PATA /, swap, and some extra leftover space
HT 200 PATA /myth
PVR-500
PVR-250
2 x Air2PC Rev 0.2
pcHDTV HD3000 - not in the box right now

I'm wondering if I can capture OTA HD with the Air2PC (I'm doing that now) and capture QAM using the HD3000 in the same box at the same time. I'm still having issues getting the hardware to be happy (5 tuner cards in one box I think is pushing it).

The reason why I ask this is I would like to tune some of the digital channels with the HD3000 card while I let the Air2PC(s) do their thing and capture any of the 5 HD channels that I can pickup at my house.

I walked through the setup to use the HD3000 with QAM and things seamed to work properly (I was able to see the channels and tune to digital channels) so I'm sure that I could get that working with QAM by itself. I believe that I'll be able to pick up Discovery HD as well as PBS HD over QAM (I can't get them OTA). I can successfully get the HD3000 or the Air2PC Rev 0.2 to capture OTA just fine as well.

I know that I'll need to setup up different tuner sources for OTA, QAM, and standard cable (already done on labs.zap2it.com) but can you guys forsee any other issues with trying this? I have a spare HDD to stick in the box while I play around so I don't hose the current setup so I'm not worried about that. I plan on trying this with R5C7.

If all else fails I will get that new machine I've been spec'ing out for a while and then convert the current machine to a slave backend and stick the HD3000 in that to do QAM.

don't see why that would pose any problems. I currently use firewire/pvr250/pchd3000(QAM) in the same box. As long as each card has a good source chan/freq/etc shouldn't be a problem.

I'm no expert in this area, but I remember seeing something mentioned on the pcHDTV site that said I could have up to 4 of their HD-3000 cards in a single system. Somthing about PCI interrupts and limitations. Perhaps that means only 4 PCI recorder cards of any brand. I just don't kinow.

I'm thinking this is the case. I tried a fresh install with R5C7 and the Air2PC's do function out of the box which is pretty cool. The HD3000 also functions out of the box, but I can't get my hardware to behave with 5 cards. If I take out the PVR500 or PVR250 then the 3 HD cards behave. As soon as I add another card (5 total) the HD cards conflict (while the analog cards work just fine).

It's strange how if I have the HD3000 and an Air2PC that works, or 2 Air2PC's will also work but when you add a third card one of the previously installed cards stops working. They show up in the setup but gives an error that the card cannot be opened.

I'm going to delve deeper into the hardware and see if I can get it straightened out by working with the bios settings some. Though, I'm leaning more and more towards setting up a slave backend using my existing machine and convincing my wife to let me build a new computer :)
