I am having trouble with this system:

http://www.mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=12776

For particular shows on ABC2, i constantly get duplicate recordings.

It seems to me that the problem is someone will enter a show in the tvguide.org.au listings. mythtv will see this and schedula a recording.

then someone goes and edits this entry on tvguide.org.au, and mythtv sees this and schedules another recording on the second encoder.

is anyone else having trouble with this? I most often see it happen with "the bush tucker man"

I am in brisbane, using the tv_grab_au_reg grabber

Thanks

I dont know if this is related, but i implemented this grabber, and it added duplicate channels (the scanner had picked them up already).

I manually copied across the XMLTV IDs from the "grabber duplicated" channel into the scanned ones, and deleted the grabber channels.

This meant that scheduled recording were not getting "dropped" due to duplicate showing on duplicate channels...

Thought it might be the same thing as i (and a mate) encountered similar behaviour using that grabber.

Hope that helps?

Nathan

I did a similar thing when setting my box up. I don't have duplicate channels

The problem seems to be that that mythtv doesnt work out that there cant be 2 different shows on the same channel at the same time.

This is happening a lot again lately. Can i add a rule something along the lines of:

obviously you cant have 2 different shows on the same channel at the same time. Keep the newest scheduled recording, and delete any previous scheduled recordings for this time slot

is that possible somehow?

This seems to be an XMLTV problem, you will need to get in touch with that team, or at least those involved with the .au guide.
The problem is you can have 2 shows on at the same time on the same channel. If you know a channel has a tendency to run late, so you extend the time by a couple of minutes, just in case, but you are also recording the following show so you end up recording the overlap twice.

ETA sense to a sentence.

good point Bruce, I hadn't thought of that

The problem is the grabber I am using is a free community based one, and therefore is always going to have errors at some stage.

Surely myth can distinguish between recording the same show twice, and overlapping 2 different recordings ?

I would think that MythTV expects the programme database to OK, to stop this I would expect some added logic to the scheduler would be required.
Or perhaps, having a app which runs after mythfilldatabase runs to do a programme database integrity check.
