Post subject:  Export UK DVB Radio recordings to MP3

Hi,

I have my myth box recording some radio shows from DVB radio. I'd like to convert them to mp3, and I was sure there was a posting in here somewhere with a script that auto-converted after recording?

Does anyone know of a good way to export these recordings automatically to mp3 so I can either stream them, or just pull them onto an iPod.

Thanks!
Steve.

Hi there.

What I do is playback the recording via samba share on my windows box using vlc, turning off the video stream and just getting the sound, then use total recorder to save the audio to an mp3 file. I then edit out unwa nted bits, or seperate tracks using Audacity......

Another option is nuvexport. You can type in "nuvexport-mp3" in an ssh session. You will be prompted for what recording you want to export. You can also set up a user job to do this automatically for your recordings.

Not sure about what you would do but I'd use cron with a script to detect which files are new and dump to a dedicated directory, such as /myth/music/drb, then use mplayer to dump the audio. From memory it's something like:
mplayer -dumpstream myfile.mpg -dumpaudio myfile.mp3

Look at the man page or google it if this doesn't work.

Try out:

For automating as a user job. I don't think the cut list works very well with digital radio on tv as its not like a normal tv mpeg broadcast but some other type of data stream like interactive services, but you'll get an mp3 of the recording.
