So, here is the issue.
On recording of 1hr or less. I am able to go to the library and watch the show which is currently being recorded.

However last weekend I notice the following... While recording NFL football game..
If I go to library 1min~1Hr into the game I can watch the recording.
If I wait until recording is 2hr~3hr into the game I am unable to start watching the recording and it crash the front end forcing me to restart it. If I wait until the recording has finished I can watch the game......

I'm a noob :) so first. Any ideas what is causing this?
Second what logs if any should I be looking at to determine what caused the crash.

System:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ Windsor 2.4GHz Socket AM2 Processor
2GB SDRAM DDR2 667
Motherboard -DFI INFINITY NF ULTRAII-M2 AM2 NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra ATX
Hard Drive - Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s
Video card - 6200 series Nvidia (installed the latest drivers NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-9755)
PCHDTV – 5500 PCI card
knoppmyth release version R5F1

Thanks for the help.

I noticed on some 3 hr recordings appear to not be recorded correctly.
3hr is showing up as 2.9 GB. while a 1 hr show shows up as 6.4GB.
:(

any ideas why?
Thanks

The system had 2 GB of memory so that should not be a issue.

Newbie2 -

Could it possibly be a bad stick of memory? Try running a memory check on the memory. Also, you should check your airflow in your case and make sure your not overheating. Another place to look at is your power supply (You did not specifiy what you are using).

That can be caused by drop-outs (signal loss) if you use an antenna.

Its a completely new system/case(good air flow and new power supply). Which leaves me with verfiying memory. I plan to upgade to the newest release first. if issue still appears I will run memory tests to validate new memory is good.

Thanks for the feed back

Happy to report that with a clean install of the latest release Release 5 F27, I no longer have issue recording/ watching game which are longer than 1-2 hrs.

Verified buy recording Football game for 3.5 Hrs.

Exit the game when buffer reached 1hr,2hr,3hr. After existing game, I would then
attempt to restart the program( all where successful)

Happy New Year
