Hello,

On my PC, almost all of my HD recordings show up with a time length less than the actual length. So a one hour recording will show as being 54 minutes long. I'm wondering if this has anything to do with why my commflagging of HD shows is dreadfully off. Usually the first commercial is fine, but subsequent breaks are bad. Though the start of the break is usually correct, the end of the break is often off by minutes. It has gotten to the point where I have turned off commflagging for any shows that might be recorded in HD.

Any ideas?

That's a common problem. The displayed lengths of HD
recordings are all over the map -- usually shorter than actual.
I see a lot of hour long recordings (actually 59:55) display
lengths of around 52 minutes. Though after I trascode them
with a user-job, the lengths often display as longer than
actual.

Unfortunately not. I do see the same broken recording lengths,
but I have commflagging disabled, so I don't know if the two
are related. Based on mencoder's output while transcoding HD
recordigns, i think some stations broadcast commercials in a
different resolution/framerate than the show, so if you use a
dumb frame-counting algorithm to calculate times, you end up
way off by the end of the show.
