Basically, I've been using my PVR-250 based KM box to capture analog cable only. I tried to change channels in the past via serial port but found the digital box didn't support it. Comcast is giving me a box that dose (or so they claim), and my question is about setup assuming channel changing works, what's the best setup on the KM side?

Can both digital and analog channels come through coax out of the digital box into the coax in on the PVR?

In other words: Cable jack --> digital box --> PVR-250 (all coax)

I have two jacks so the TV can function on it's own input and I don't care if I can watch digital channels on the TV. Let's just keep it simple and allow mythtv to have exclusive access to it.

If I'm right about that physical setup, do I just set the PVR-250 to always record channel 3 or 4 (whatever the digital box uses) and simply use a change_channel.sh and setup mythtv-setup to use that change_channel.sh as it's channel changer and all is well?

Thanks in advance!

S-video would give you a better picture,

So you could do this:

Cable box > S-video> PVR-250

This would allow digital and analog with channel change script.

Then also split the coax going ito your cable box so that you have a coax feed going into your cable box and a coax goining into your PVR-250.

This would allow you to recourd analog channels while watching somthing different on the tv via the cable box. This would also enable you to record analog channels without changing the channel on the cable box.

In mythtv-setup you would configure this as two inputs and have two channel lineups.

That sounds good. I'll give it a go, thanks!
