My HD set advertises that the 'recommended resolution' is 1680x1050. Is it better to use that or 1280x720 (720p's resolution) as the resolution? What are other folks doing?

Thanks!

It is better to use the TV's default resolution as your video card will almost certainly do a better job of scaling than you TV.

I drive my TV at its panel resolution (1366x768). That way the
TV isn't doing any scaling (it's all done in the KM box).

The other viable choice would be output at the program's
resolution and let the TV do all the scaling.

The worst choice would be to scale once in the KM box to some
arbitrary resolution (e.g. 1280x720), and then a second time in
the TV to the panel resolution (1680x1050).

Doing scaling in two places is going to look worse (especially
if you go from 1080i -> 720P -> 1050P). Even if it's not
noticable from more than a foot away from the screen, you'll
know in the back of your mind that the picture is being scaled
twice and it'll eat at you until you snap and start setting
fire to empty polic cars. And we don't want _that_.

Cool, 1680x1050 it is... I neglected to mention that although the set is an HDTV, my master backend is still an SDTV setup w/ a PVR-250. All our content is 720x480.
