OTA HD isn't really an option where I live. A previous experience with Comcast and a QAM receiver. Are there any alternatives to ATSC or QAM at this time to capture HD video? I saw something about using firewire to capture from a STB... What setups do others have running at this time to pull standard HD channels from Comcast? |

Does your cable box have a firewire port? If not, have you asked Comcast for one that does? Getting the box is your first step. Search the threads at gossamer for information on this and see if it was committed before 0.17. If so, you're in luck. I think perhaps it was not, but don't despair as a new 0.18 "release" is due soon. (I say "release" because the devs have not, to this point, put any extra emphasis on making a release stable, which sort of defeats the purpose of a release IMHO.) But I digress. You're on the cutting edge here, but I expect many will want to take this path so please let us know what you discover and we'll all learn from your mistakes! |
