I just added component output from vga via the Audio Authority 9A60 to my hdtv. When I first set it up, I used another monitor to be safe and when it worked, I simply switched the cables. It looked great. Desktop same size as were the menus. Everything was right, just clearer and sharper.

Then I rebooted. The screen that came back was huge, way beyond the boundaries of the tv (not from overscan, but an oversized desktop). This was in the 540p mode. The menus all show up at the right size.

1080i brings the desktop back the the right size but splits it vertically and does a horizontal wrap so the ends meet in the middle. Also the menus are much smaller.

The odd thing is the fonts in myth end up the same no matter which setting I use.

The 1080i problem seems to be a problem with the nvidia driver. But if I could get the 540 setting right it would be a start.

Any clues?

Thanks to some pointers from others I found out that I had two resolutions in the Screen section of the config file. When a smaller one is followed by the larger it can give you the resolution of the first with the desktop size of the second. The solution was to take out the one I wasn't using.
