Hmm.. Slow motion.... What is your CPU speed...
What are you connected to TV or Computer monitor? {maybe refresh?}

You can use your SATA drive in Knoppmyth.

That is what I am using now.

You will have to follow the manual process and there is a bit of
tweaking to do... But its not too bad...

I'm running an AMD64 3200+. I get the same "slo-mo" on my monitor and via S-Video.

I've tried SATA in Knoppmyth. After install, it wouldn't reboot. I've tried Fedora core3, no problems with SATA. I've been trying the fedora instructions at http://wilsonet.com/mythtv/fcmyth.php. My problem there is getting my HD3000 running. I'm currently waiting for the 2.6.12 release of the kernel that has the DVB drivers included. I couldn't get any of the instructions for compiling my own to work (I too new at linux).

Thanks for your help. No plans on giving up, I'll just keep working at it. Eventually it'll work.

If you're having playback performance issues it may make sense to change the decoder library used if you haven't already... I don't remember where it is in setup (and don't have access to the KnoppMyth machne at the moment) but it's not all that hard to find...

I know this might just be a lost comment (as there are many more experts on this thread) but I ran into a similar problem (being kicked back to the main menu unless I set a correct default channel).

I found out that by looking at the channel numbers (so after scanning, list the channels by number not name) and filling the channel number (not the number with the _, the number shown before the channel name) in the input connections setup I was able to watch live tv.

If I did not use that method even changing the channel would not help, it would show me a black screen (after pressing the live tv button).

I sometimes still need to change the channels to get a live picture going (just press up/down). Make also sure to correctly save when updating that input connection setup, I recall that the number did not 'stick' all the time correctly.
