Post subject:  HDTV DVI-HDMI or VGA-COMPONENT?

Ok heres my problem I have built a nive 64bit system and decked it out with a huge hard drive and 2 gigs of ram and a Nvidia 6200 Agp 8x card with VGA and DVI out
My problem is with DVI to HDMI because i have no DVI on my TV. I have to Overscan and my HD takes a signal up to 1080Dpi Would VGA to Component be better. Though I would still like to be able to have a HD signal.

I don't have DVI myself, but I've heard there are major problems getting DVI working at 1080i resolution. Do you know the NATIVE resolution of your TV set? Is it CRT based or some type of microdisplay (DLP, LCD). If the latter, there is every probability your TV is 1280x720 native and there would be little point in driving it at 1080i instead of 720p.

Going VGA to component video requires a converter in most cases, but it gives very good results. Component video DOES support high-definition resolution, so you're not giving up anything by going with VGA. My set has a VGA input, so I use it directly with my video card and get very good results.
