I am a noobie using KnoppMyth, but I'm using my regular computer with the Motorola DCT-6200. I have the STB connected via Firewire to my only Firewire available port. I installed R5A30.1 and had to configure a few not-so-documented things to get working, but I was ECSTATIC that I got SD channels working last night for the first time (hint: run backend and frontend as root, but I'll figure this out later). I can view SD channels and change channels just fine. I switched to PBS HD channel and the frontend froze. The backedend basically said that it was not receiving a signal after 15 seconds. After this I cann't view another SD channel and I have to reboot.

I changed the channel to HBO and I was able to get that signal, which was GREAT! But, it would be nice if I can get regular HD channels?

Is this possible? How about Discovery HD? Is the signal encrypted for HD channels? Can I get PBS, Fox, ABC, NBC, or CBS HD channels?

**Note** My hardware is:
Motherboard: K8T Neo-FIS2R
Onboard Firewire: IA VT6307 IEEE1394 controller
Video: nVidia GeForece 4 4200 Ti 128MB RAM
STB: Motorola DCT-6200
Monitor: Olevia LT30HV
Connection between PC and Monitor: DVI
Connection between STB and PC: Firewire, Port 0, Node 0, left-most firewire port on STB viewing from behind.
Tuner Setting: Broadcast

unfortunately we can't answer that for you. I have comcast cable in nashville, and I can get INHD1/2 ABC NBC CBS FOX WB TNT UPN in hd from my moto 6200, but it's up to the cable company what they encrypt, though note that the FCC mandates that anything they get OTA they have to push back out unencrypted (not that the cable companies always follow FCC mandates)

Also I have canceled all my extra packages cause I never used them, but when I had all the channels I could get showtime, skinimax, and hbo in hd.

Xsecrets....so you use firewire only? Or do you have an HD tuner card such as an HD3000?

I have a hd3000, but it's currently sitting dormant not connected to anything. I am thinking of give qam tuning a go again shortly.

But to answer your question yes right now I am only using firewire, and a straight analog connection to a pvr250 to give me two effective tuners, one of which can do hdtv.
