Hey guys, so, the other day i bought a dct 6200 and now have it working via firewire connected to my SBE (slave backend) which is an AMD Athlon 64 3000+ with a gig of ram and a 200 gb sata hd - everything is working fine, im able to record, and the picture quality rocks.. the only problem that im having is after a recording is finished, i can't set it up an auto transcode - as most of the content is still sd and not hd leaving it not transcoded is not bad with the sd, but with the hd, i dont have alot of space. Im wondering if anyone knows how i can have it do the auto transcode... any ideas?

- Scott

I played with transcoding my HD recordings to divx. It works, it saves disk space and the resulting video looks good, but it takes a long to do the transcode. On a P4-2.4ghz system it takes 2-3 hours to transcode a 1 hour recording. If you want to try it anyway, you need to re-configure the "utils/setup->setup->TV-settings->Recording profiles->transcoders->from mpeg2" and set "automatically transcode after recording" -- I don't recall where this setting is located, but you can find a reference to it by search the forums or in the mythtv docs.

Also, I think there was one R5 release where some profiles were missing. There is a posting somewhere that talks about how to resovle this if you are on that rleease. I know that R5A30.2 does not have this problem.

any luck getting it to work with R5A30.2? I am running R5A30.2 with a DCT-6200 firewire input and am looking to do some command line transcoding.

Can someone post a basic command that would transcode recording via the firewire port to that also utilizes the commercial cutlists. I'm looking for the output to be reasonable quality and playable on either a mac os x or windows.
