the HD-3000 is $169.98 (specs can be found at http://pchdtv.com/) and the A180 is $80. I plan on using my card for over-the-air US HDTV capping. Is there any reason NOT to go for the A180? Another thread stated that a guy got the A180 working with mythtv and I know the HD-3000 works fine. Any advice on which card to choose?

I've been hearing that the Air2PC Airstar HD5000 is a little better than the pcHDTV HD3000.

don't know much of anything about the 180, but it might be a little harder to get to work. And the big issue for OTA is going to be how good is the tuner, that is why some people say the 5000 is better than the 3000. also if you plan on trying to use QAM does it have support for that? probably not at $80, but I could be wrong.

What other thread? We know the pcHDTV (and the Air2PC, AirStar, etc.) work fine. I've know idea if the A180 is supported in Linux.

I have a A180. So far no problem. It actually has better tuning/signal strength than the HD-3000. I'm only using it for OTA, so no input on QAM.

2.6.15.4 kernel.
modprobe saa7134-dvb

Do you have another card in your Myth box. I am having difficulty getting my A180 and PVR-250 to work at the same time.
