Hi guys,

I just got my 102G card and for some strange reason, when i try to install the disc, it hangs at the auto configuration phase.

I had no issues when i was using my PVR 350.

My current setup includes the following:
250gig SATA (its not this, because i have this disabled for now)
200gig IDE
160gig IDE
DFI Lanparty UT Ultra-D
Athlon 64 3500
1 gig RAM
DVD-R drive
CDRW drive
Hauppauge PVR350 card installed
Twinhan 102G DVB-S card
ATI X300 -however I will be using the PVR350 for X-TV OUT

I dont know why, but when i pull the 102G card out, the install works, but wheni put it in it freezes. Does anybody have this problem?

Regards

Minirx7 I had a similar problem with an earlier version of KnoppMyth and my Twinhan card (DVB-T). With the current versions of KnoppMyth this is not a problem though. What I had to do with the earlier versions was install KnoppMyth without the card then recompile the kernel before I was able to insert the card.

Another thing I have learnt is that during that autoconfiguring you can press Ctrl+C and it will quit that script and continue on.

This happens because your twinhan DVB card's eeprom is corrupted. Because of some bug in the hardware, the eeprom is actually writable.

You will have to specify some options to your bttv module at the load time.

change your modprobe.conf to add this (or search on the net)
bttv card=0x71 i2c_hw=1

Thanks, I remember reading about the corruptable EEPROMs.

Is there a way to drop to command line from the beginning, because the computer WILL not boot.

It wont boot in Fedora, Ubuntu or Knoppymyth. It freezes right away, when its loading modules.

Hello I am having the same problem. And would like to try what was suggested by hello_man

Code:

You will have to specify some options to your bttv module at the load time.

change your modprobe.conf to add this (or search on the net)

But I cannot find the modprobe.conf file. Can someone please tell me exactly where to find this file that I need to edit. I am using knoppmyth R5C7.

Thank you

After many frustrating days I have solved this problem. It was not a corruptable eeprom. I checked the id and it was exactly as it sould be. although the line
Code:
bttv card=0x71 i2c_hw=1
is the solution as hello_man suggested. When I originally tried this it allowed me to boot but the computer was unstable. Now I realize these were 2 different problems. I installed ubuntu linux onto a totally different computer added

Code:
bttv card=0x71 i2c_hw=1
to my options file, and everything worked perfectly. So basically the above line is needed. But you may also have a motherboard that is not compatible with the twinhan card. (could also be bad ram, I still need to test mine)

If you are using ubuntu dapper add the below to your /etc/modprobe.d/options file

Code:
options dvb_core dvb_shutdown_timeout=0
options bttv i2c_hw=1 card=0x71

And add the below to your /etc/modules file

Code:
bt878
dst
dvb-bt8xx

I am sure this will work for other distros as well but the file that needs to be edited may be different.
