My new Sony 55" Grand Wega 3LCD has a native resolution of 1366x768 according to the manual. The manual does not detail any timing information.

I am using powerstrip to get a modeline configuration for my new Dragon (whee, thanks Human!)

I can't get a modeline to work at that resolution, but I did get a 720p modeline to work and I can get it down to about 5% vertical over scan.

I also can get a modeline with a resolution of 1200x666 to work with zero overscan.

My two questions:
What will be the result if I run 720p content across a resolution of 666?

Also, given this info would you rather have the overscanned 720 or the perfectly centered 666?

I have a similar situation with a 1080i Sony SXRD. I've asked this in this post, http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... highlight=
and I never really got an exact answer to it.

I run a 1920x1080 modeline to it. I then set up my myth menu resolution to to 18XX by 10XX (I forget the exact numbers). I have separate settings for the video, it which I just let it overscan naturally without correction. I guess I'm losing a little on the edges, but it might be better to do that than squashing it to make it fit. The only problem is that my desktop is obviously overscanned, but I don't go to the desktop that often.

I run mine at 1232 by 690 just fine. HD looks the same as when I was running at normal 720p but without the overscan. Here is the relevant section of my XF86Config-4:

Code:
Section "Monitor"
        Identifier      "Monitor0"
        DisplaySize 480 270  #Added by Me
#       Option  "DPMS"  "true"
#       HorizSync    28.0 - 78.0 # Warning: This may fry very old Monitors
HorizSync    45 # Warning: This may fry old Monitors
VertRefresh  60 # Very conservative. May flicker.
        ModeLine "ATSC-720-60p" 74.25 1232 1320 1376 1648 690 710 716 750
EndSection

If you guys are running LCD's shouldn't you get a bit-for-bit resolution? Maybe the newest Nvidia drivers still don't do this, but they're expected to soon. Problem is, the current drivers (last time I checked) don't support any res not divisible by 8 so you must run 1368x768 or 1360x768. It worked pretty well for my Sharp Aquos.

Most people assume that fixed pixel displays such as LCD should display everything at 1:1 pixel mapping, but that usually isn't the case. They pretty much all still overscan.

If anyone has one that doesn't, please chime in and correct me.
