My timestamps are ok too, and my scaling takes about 10 seconds, and happens every single time. Even if I ESCape too many times and get the "do you want to quit" question, then return to the front-end, it'll re-scale again.
It's much more noticeable with blootube-wide (my favorite).

Looking at the ticket, the developers are in denial.

Obviously, it's most likely the validation routine. It's usually something really stupid, at least in code I mess up. I may have time this weekend to examine in.

I did realize, after I posted my previous post, that the mythfrontend isn't a log itself. It's exiting the front end and running it with the -v option, probably with > mythfrontend.log also.

Looks like we've been told off for discussing it on that MythTv-TRAC page... apparently this may be the solution:

Quote:
..the user running mythfrontend doesn't have write permissions on

$HOME/.mythtv/ or
$HOME/.mythtv/{theme,osd}cache or some subdirectory.

You can probably fix it by

a) verifying you've specified the proper
"export HOME=/whatever"
in the script that starts mythfrontend and

b) "rm -r $HOME/.mythtv/{theme,osd}cache"

If log onto mythfrontend as root I still get the problem, presumably that proves that the above is not the problem? if not then, where is the script that starts mythfrontend?

"Looking at the ticket, the developers are in denial."

Just read through all that -- there's some seriously bad attitudes on there!

Did anyone actually get a fix for this, as I've got it as well?

Thanks,

David

I've still got this issue. It usually takes between 20-60 seconds to prescale the images on my machine.

I always thought this was normal behavior. I use blootube wide as well.

I understand that "pre-scaling theme images" runs everytime myth detects a resolution change. However, my resolution never changes; is always 1024x768. Yet EVERY time I run Mythtv, I have to wait for it.

Is this normal?

AFAICT, yes. It may not be intended, but it's normal. All my
KM systems have always done that. I've installed several
different KM versions on a couple different HW platforms, and
they all "pre-rescale" everytime the frontend starts. Since I
very rarely exit/restart the frontend, it doesn't really bother
me.
