The commercials used to be removed automatically after it was recorded. Comflag runs ok and detects teh commercials. Autotranscode runs and transcodes the file ok - but leaves the commercials in.

If I watch a recording in the frontend and then edit and load the cutlist, then transcode from the frontend it DOES remove the commercials.

Anyone else come across this? Seems to have started back when I upgraded to the schedules direct. I don't think the upgrade caused the problem but I did some other system maintenance at that time that may have caused my problem.
Permissions maybe???
thanks

Yes I seem to have something like that too. I've only started transcoding since r5f27, and the commercials are detected but not removed. I believe I have the correct settings. But something is amiss.

Have you tried these instructions?

If I'm reading it correctly, I can transcode to remove commercials OR transcode to a smaller resolution, but not both at the same time (which is what I'm after). Is that correct?

I found even under R5C7 the machine did not "Automatically" remove commercials.

It would Commflag them and of course skip when I watched them but none of the Transcode functions would remove the commercials until....

I edited or more properly, "Loaded the cutlist" The referenced instructions say that.

I found most times because of the way Broadcasters play with Commercial points, I wanted to clean up the Commflagging by loading the cutlist then adjusting it, takes about 2 minutes.

Then you run any of the jobs manually and it will remove commercials and give you the results of your desired setting and selection.

HTH, it is what works for me.

So you're saying that I have to do something manually in order for myth to remove the commercials, right?

That has been my experience.

Quote from the linked MythTV instructions

MythTV does not automatically remove commercials....

now there are a couple of scripts and command line instructions somewhere that you can take the Commflag results and -gencutlist then run a transcode in one operation. You could then set that up as a userjob to automatically run after a recording.

Out of the box however it takes manual intervention to "Remove" those commercials. Actually given the sloppiness or more appropriately planned efforts by the broadcasters to have you watch their revenue generators, I like that I can manually clean that up on ones I want to save a little bit.

hth
