(previously called THEME - 4 bins)
I have designed a new layout for MythMusic which uses 3 bins on the screen. This design is orientated towards people with large mp3 collections of complete albums for ease of manipulation. My main man Mr. Vikas Rangarajan has made 5 patches so far for the MythTv and MythPlugins 0.18.1 source code. Usability is now quite stable. In fact, patch 1 has been accepted onto the MythTv Trac as it fixed a common bug.
http://cvs.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/141
Ultimately I want to have all music related features accessible from the one MythMusic screen.... i.e.
1. Play Audio CD
2. Import CD (Rip Audio / import mp3 CD/DVD)
3. Burn MP3 CD/DVD
4. Burn Audio CD
5. Advanced Genre/Year Filters
6. Scan for new music
7. ipod/portable mp3 transfers/synchronisation
8. ID3 Tag Editor
Other aims..
1. Get it all fully numbered 1-9, SKY TV style so that keyboard use is redundant for MythMusic
2. Allow music to keep playing whilst using other Myth features
3. Improvements to ID3 tag scanning
Anyway, a picture speaks a thousand words....
http://sourceforge.net/project/screensh ... _id=121754
and anyone interested can download it from the same site...

Any comments, thoughts, feedback, offers to help, guinea pigs, ideas etc are appreciated.

great to see some work on mythmusic. i have a lot of ideas for myth, but don't have the coding skills to help. mythtv is a great suite but there are few more things like your mod and ideas that will really make it stand out.
cheers

thanks,
By all means share your ideas since, like yourself, I am not a programmer either but have lots of crazy ideas... for example:
crazy idea number 204:
how about a feature that can interpret guitar tablature from internet sites such as:
www.chordfind.com
www.olga.net
www.guitaretab.net
It would have to interpret these into a TV friendly format. In an ideal world these could be matched up with songs in the mp3 database automatically. Then, rather than stare at the Music Library screen you could play along with your guitar. A bouncing ball would be the cherry on the pie... just like Disney's "Zip A Dee Doo Dah - Sing A long songs"!
crazy idea number 342:
Some kind of friendly integration with www.musicplasma.com ... a novel visualisation website that recommend similar artists.

That would be so cool.
The other night we had some peeps over for drinks. They knew I'd been working on mythtv and wanted to see it. I was already playing music using mythmusic and switched the TV on to show them all the features (haven't gotten mythgame to work but everything else is golden)
Anyway, I did get a comment that it was kind of lame that I could not play music while showing gallery pics of our recent trip to hawaii.
I agreed.

At the moment the guide for applying the patches is tested for patching the MythTv source that comes with RA16 (0.18.1). However R5A22 uses 0.18.2.
I had a problem applying a couple of the patches to the R5A22 source, so I probably need to change the patch files and installation guide when we get round to it.
The patches certainly won't come with KM or MythTv yet because:
- the new UI only works with the BLUE theme at the moment (the amp3 theme is a simple adaptation of the BLUE theme).
- once it is compatible with other themes we need to create an option to switch from our UI to the standard UI
- ADD ALBUM doesn't work (next step for programming).
When the above hurdles have been surpassed I still wouldn't expect it to be shipped with KM, although I guess only Cecil himself can answer that.

This is a really big pet peeve of mine in Mythtv. It would be so nice to have music while still going to set your programs to record. But this does seem like a bigger overarching concept in Mythtv then just a plugin, but then again, ive never looked at the code to see. Good Luck
