Hello All,
I have searched the forum and cannot find the same instance as I have with this one.
I have not changed anything on the box. And now when it boots it will not start backend. When it is booted it will complain and I will start it up with mythtv as the user and its fine after that.

I have done everything I can but I would like to resolve this anyways.
There are no errors about backend anywhere that I can find.

Any pointers>>>>.....?

Thanks again
Lee

Hi Lee,

http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1906

Just to start. Maybe you can also try searching the forum using 'mythtv-backend startup' and checking search for all terms

I have read that one. But he was trying to compile and install myth.

I am doing none of that and the
Quote:
as root run update-rc.d defaults mythtv-backend.

didnt work. I tried it as
Code:
update-rc.d defaults

as well as
Code:
update-rc.d defaults mythtv-backend

those didnt work. I also found others that are simular however, this is not like the others. There has been nothing wrong or chaged to the system.

This is what I dont understand.

The backend is already set to start on boot, so there is no need to update-rc.d. If it isn't starting, you need to investigate the backend log (located in /var/log/mythtv/).

How can it act like it isn't running? Either it is or it isn't. When the system boots up, start watching TV. If it starts the backend isn't running, then the backend isn't running and you should check the logs.
