I bought a new Neil Young DVD (Prairie Wind) and have a problem I have not seen before. On all channels (stereo or AC3) using Xine or mplayer to play the DVD there is a significant hiss in each music track (but not in the "extra" sections of the DVD - like the interviews). Playing this DVD on a standard DVD player (television) or WinDVD (on Windows) is no problem (no hiss). I have tried a replacement - same issue. I have upgraded Xine to 99.4/1.1.1 - no difference. I have ripped it to my hard drive - same problem. I have tried this on 3 different Myth machines... This implies an issue within linux.

I have tweaked the audio parameters in Xine and tried altering alsamixer; tried switching to OSS... I have not seen this problem on any of my other DVD's. Anybody seen this or have any ideas?

Oh, and one other thing... This DVD also came with an audio CD (same sound track)... it plays fine whether through Mythmusic or mplayer.
