This will either be so specialist nobody knows, or I will be abused for not searching for the answer (which I have :-) )

I have a DVB-T and DVB-S setup in the UK. DVB-T and DVB-S are both set up to use offair EIT data.

DVB-T in the UK supplies good 7 day EIT, but DVB-S is currently only supplying now and next (at least on my setup )

I often set my recordings to "any time on any channel" and check for duplicates against title and description.

The problem is that I have for instance:

BBC1 DVB-T, and BBC1 (east), BBC1 (west) BBC1 (wales) etc... on DVB-S. The DVB-S versions as well as being restricted to now-and next, will have diffrent descriptions, for the same programme.

I am therefore getting missed shows due to priorities on DVB-T, that are not picked up on the DVB-S cards, due to now-next. I am also often getting two versions of the same show recorded one on DVB-S and ONe on DVB_T on the same channel, same programme, same time.

OK, so what i wanted to do was use the eit data from the DVB-T card to populate the DVB-S card channels. Any way to do that ??

I have 2 DVB-T cards and a PVR350 connected to a Cable STB, to get around the possible problems with programme entry duplication I'm running the xmltv grabber for the Radio Times site.

Though when running R5A30 I had occasionally the same programme being recorded twice, one from DVB-T and one from the STB. It seemed to be a problem on certain channels.

Wow. That's a neat problem.

I'm not an expert here but a few things strike me.

Is there any chance you could just have your setup compare programs for titles rather than titles -and- descriptions? That alone might fix it.

Otherwise, does DVB-S provide channels that DVB-T doesn't supply? I'm having a bit of trouble understanding your lingo, but I'm reading that the DVB-T is always on and the DVB-S isn't always on.

If DVB-S doesn't provide anything that DVB-T provides, one solution might be to disconnect the DVB-S connection and make it two DVB-T connections.

Alternately, you might be able to remove the problem channels from the DVB-S lineup. If they share some channels, eliminating them will solve at least the biggest problem, although it's not ideal.

Final solution that comes to mind is to change the problem recordings to just use specific channels instead of any channel/any time. I'm not positive that will help, but I'm guessing that the DVB-S channels are shown seperately than the DVB-T channels. Locking the problem channels to only record from one or the other should be possible.

Well, maybe a temporary solution, if nothing else works, is to add another tuner. You'd still get duplicates, but it would lessen the chances of conflicts.
