Hi,

I've just burnt a DVD using MythArchive (with the setting "Don't Reencode") and when I try to watch it in MythDVD there's no audio after the menu.

So the menu starts up with the animation and audio, and I can start playing the DVD but the movie has no sound.

Strangely enough the opposite is the case under Windows Media Player, and using some software called "PowerDVD" on my windows box plays back all the audio.

Is this a codec issue? I'm using R5F1 and I've installed pineapple and w32codecs. Are there other codecs I need to install for dvd playback?

Daniel

what was the format of the file you burnt (your post doesnt mention if you've got digital or analog tuners). not that i know if it matters.

if you capture analog you can set the capture resolution. if youve set it to anything other than 720x576 (or another dvd compliant resolution) you'd need to transcode.

i had thought that mytharchive automatically transcode to a dvd compliant file type (mpeg-2) .. regardless.. you might try again using a different profile.

it seems a slightly odd problem.. did you try doing it twice to see if you got the same problem?? might just be a dodge burn or something. no additional codecs are needed to use mytharchive

so yeah.. sorry. my advice is to try again. try again using a different profile, and try again using a different file.

the mythtv wiki doesnt have heaps that you wouldnt know but maybe check that out also.

I've had a problem on some DVB recordings that after transcoding (to scale images and/or edit out adverts), the sound seems to disappear or you hear the Audio Description track.
What appears to happen that the alternate soundtrack seems to swap position with the main one.
What I would try is move the first edit point slightly then try it again, it might work this time.

I just had a similar problem with a commercial DVD.

However, with this DVD I tried something different. I went into the DVD menu and told it to play the MP2 audio track rather than the AC3 track and all of a sudden - there was sound!

So why did the AC3 audio not work? Is it a bug in MythDVD (using R5F1) or a missing codec or a setting that I've got wrong?

(BTW, I'm just using a very basic soundcard. Only analogue output, no fancy digital out.)

I had the same problem last night with a commercial DVD. The audio works on some introductions and plays music @ the top menu but the movie has no audio.

Where exactly is the setting for changing to mp2? I'm sure I can find it but it is nice to save a few minutes fo searching if somone knows right off
