No pain here. It's a good trick if you can pull it off.

How do you create the bogus card definition? My memory was that it gets really cranky under Capture Cards and refuses to play if you select a device it can't probe and identify (say /dev/video99)... Maybe recent versions are better behaved?

Of course you can't play tv without a card, however it does allow the setting up of a card and setting up a reference for the listings to be filed under. alt s, allows steps 123 &5 without a card. Try it

It does complain about no channels, but I lie and tell it I know what I'm doing. I have done it many times, don't know when I first tried. When you do put in a card it will boot to the login and take you into setup so you can do the sources assignment for tuner and composite.

If I am wrong, I will reformat my laptop (myth partition only) and pretend the listings don't and never did exsist.... AND will throw in a cup of Honey Dew (small)....

I got some mythfilldatabase questions.

As I live in Sweden I ran the mythfilldatabase --manual, but the db didnt seem to contain much program info, so the next day I ran mythfilldatabase and it executed nicely.

Now to my first Q, When does KnoppMyth R5D1 run the mythfilldatabase automaticly? I mean when is it supposed to update itself?

Next Q is related to mythweb and the program guide, when I try to browse the program guide I only get "page cant be found", why can mythweb only show the first page of the programguide?

Whenever you tell it to. Go into the frontend GUI, and burrow down into the setup screens.

Utilities/Setup -> Setup -> General -> 7th scteen

There you'll find all the settings for what command to run (don't forget to use full paths!), the time ranges to use, what to do for logging, and so on.

If you haven't taken a full tour of all the setup screens, this is probably a good time to do some other spelunking there as well. I'm probably overdue for one myself, since the setup screens seem to change with almost every version I install.
