Even after getting the LNB set correctly. I found that Mythtv setup still would not scan satellite transponders. They only way I could get Mythtv to scan satellite frequencies was if I manually created a satellite transponder file, used the command line "scan" program to create a channels.conf. After the channels.conf file was created, I could feed it in by the Import channels.conf mechanism (in the Scan Type screen). After the channels were loaded into Mythtv, I could use the Watch TV button and look at each of the satellite channels.

I plan to edit the KnoppMyth wiki article on DVB and precisely document what I did. One of the biggest downfalls of Linux is poor documentation. I will do my part to fix this problem!

can't you give a more detailed version from the above howto of the making of the channels.conf and what to do with it in detail, as a pre-publication in a pm to me??

i can PROUDLY PRESENT: the (my) box is working now.... !!!!!!!!!

i did what you wrote in the wiki that same evening.
the procedure worked well on my system, there were only a few tiny problems on how to go on in the procedure.

only after this way of setup there appears to be a channels.conf present...
(i could and did use the astra 19.2 sample out of the 'examples')

after finishing i tried to record a 1 minute sample..

nothing recorded, same message ' file cannot be found '....

i put the box out..

next morning, i tried a recording of a 5 minutes sample, and hey, now it works...!!!
(picture and sound)

i can record, a 'non-zero' file is recorded to /myth/tv,
i can playback the recording,
i can get the playback about fullscreen on my 14inch monitor,
there are only minimal slow points in the picture (no real dropouts),
i can playback the recorded file on another computer (windhose, VLC player),

i cannot playback the file (*.mpg) after burning on cd on a standalone player yet, but this may be due to the coding.

some new questions did arise, i will post in a new topic
