I agree, no need to rush it, but personally, I really really appreciated the brief update on the main page. Thank you!
OOh I'm looking forward to this.

Cannot take too much longer. Wouldn't want you to go to a less superior distro.

I'm going to second that. Updates like these are always appreciated because it's not unusual for me to want to hold off making certain changes or hold off installing a piece of hardware for the next build to minimize the number of full reinstalls.

Not sure why anyone would ever do something like that.....they would be right back here once something went wrong anyways!

I understand this takes time, and I for one have built most of my systems from scratch until I came across knoppmyth starting around R5C7 and ever since then, cannot possibly get my box to work as good, clean, and fast as I have using your knoppmyth. Thus I give props to everyone working on knoppmyth.
**** I am not worthy! ****
Reason for my post, however, is speculation on release date for next knoppmyth. Should I wait a day between forum checks and save you on bandwidth, or continue to check around 15 times a day??? Just anxious is all, but do not want to rush your quality product.
Di I already say I feel knoppmyth is in my fav 5 distros of all time?

No, that's all wrong, anyone who can't wait, absolutely should install Windows MCE, or better still whatever they call the feature in Vista. Think of it as Knoppmyth-purgatory. If R5next isn't out by the time they realize what a turd MCE is, they'll be happy to wait for R5next with a firm appreciation for the benefits of a product that has quality control at the top of the feature list. ...and if they don't realize then we're only losing a loser anyway so it's basically a win-win for the rest of us.
HEY KIDS! Impatient? Can't wait for the new KM release? THEN Go ugly early!(TM) It's butt ugly and won't respect you in the morning, but it IS available TODAY!

Um, no, I would rather take my chances with the sharks. I was trying to make a joke about refreshing the site 15 times a day looking for updates. I am like a kid waiting for the candy store to open... "Is it here, is it here, is it here???? What about now, now, now, how about now?" You know the line... "Are we there yet... on the car ride '...
I personally have seen MCE, and looks nice, but I am not lookig for pretty. I am looking for my box to do "WHAT I WANT"... I havr a xbox 360 as well, and cannot believe that the dang thing wont play anything except music off my backend server (and I had to whip it's a$$ in order for it to do that much).
We like the games, video, music, tv, recordings, weather, web control interface, distrbuted infrastructure, etc.
Long response short, I will wait.

warchildx,
My apologies if you thought my post was a personally directed dig at you. (or anyone in particular for that matter.) I only intended to express my support for the debugging effort in a lighthearted manner.
Besides, there's a difference between kid-in-a-candy-store anticipation, and belligerent impatience. I was addressing the later group. I count myself with you in the former group. I hope everyone understands that the level of anticipation is actually a recognition of the success of the distro.

No problem. My quote of your response only applied to the "I would rather take my chances with the sharks" in regards to jumping ship and going to MCE. The next sentence should have been on a new line as it was a new thought.
My thoughts usually come out faster than my typing, and thus I had to clarify my own reponse with the second response stating that I dont want pretty MCE, I want a Mythical Convergence. (I want my box to be opensource so I can tweak it myself, as well as lots of plugins to do what I want."

I guess I read Cecil's comment differently. My mind didn't immediately run to MicroFlacid.
I thought he was talking about other distribution of MythTv.
