Going to Europe. I'd like to take a few of my daughters TV recordings so they could play on relatives PAL systems.

Is this possible? How would one go about doing it. Is there a mythtv solution or do I have to juggle many different OS's and software?

Thanks

If you have a MythTV/linux setup hooked up to a PAL TV (or europian monitor) you can use mplayer or xine to playback NTSC recordings and the conversion will be taken car of in the videocard's framebuffer automatically.

I watch PAL recordings on on my NTSC TV with mplayer no problem.

If you want to playback DVD-R recordings on a PAL DVD player you would have to convert them before burning the disks. I'm not sure how to do that. Maybe the transcode feature in mythtv can help.

DVD players that handle NTSC are relatively common in Europe. You might want to check with the relatives and see if they can already play NTSC DVDs.
