Hi Everyone!

As the original author of MythBurn plugin for MythTV I have pleasure in announcing a replacement for it. This new application is a joint effort between myself and Paul Harrison (Paul doing most of the work!!).

Its stored in SVN alongside the official mythtv source. Full details can be found at this location...

http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/MythArchive

Main Features of the DVD creation part of MythArchive

* Creates DVD's complete with a themed menu structure
* New menu themes can easily be added
* By using different themes you can do things like create auto play DVD's that have no menus etc.
* Can use not only Myth recordings but also files from MythVideo and any file accessible from your file system
* Can use mythtranscode to cut out commercials from mpeg2 recordings.
* If a file isn't an mpeg2 file or the file doesn't have a DVD compliant resolution it will be re-encoded using ffmpeg so it is DVD compliant.
* Can use any video file that ffmpeg can decode and re-encode to mpeg2.
* Can re-encode the audio stream to ac3 for better compatibility in NTSC countries.
* Tries to select the best audio track based on what you have selected as your preferred languages in Myth
* Can support two audio tracks per title. (not tested fully)
* Can use single layer or dual layer dvdr's
* Can use rewritable DVD+/- RW
* Can force an erase of a rewritable disc
* Can create an ISO image that can be moved anywhere on your file system possibly so you can burn it on another machine.

very nice addition indeed. Will be keen to try this out and see how it works. Any reason why it needs to use a current svn?

Theres a complete mythui interface which I believe needs v18 of myth to work.

From reading the page on the wiki, it looks like it needs SVN. I pulled an CVS from sourceforge a few days (before the announcement) ago however that wouldnt compile.

I compiled mytharchive and the most recent mythtv svn today without any problems. My first try was with a recovered recording that mythburn kept failing with. Unfortunately it failed because its date was apparently not right (in fact, it says 1969). Next I tried the new video transcode to put some AVIs on a disc, because that feature's too cool to pass up. The script failed when it hit some files that had apostrophes in them. I renamed the files and reselected them, but I noticed that the old names were still in the list when it came time to choose which to put on a dvd. Everything looked good this time, it managed to convert them to dvd format nicely after a few hours. Unfortunately it then bombed out on spumux using the mythcenter theme because the button coordinates were out of range (maybe I had too many recordings selected for the mythcenter theme?) Still working on getting a disc out of it. But the problems don't seem that major and I'm sure I'll get it working soon. The themes are really top-notch. Good work!

Did you use the directions from the Wiki to compile from SVN?

chopsuey: yes, I think my only change was setting the prefix to /usr/ since that's what I did for mythtv. Some of those dependencies had to be installed too, namely python2.3-mysqldb, and python2.3-imaging (although I can't guarantee I got all of these right since I havent got a disc done yet). I also used the directions from http://knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page ... hTVFromSVN to recompile mythtv first.

Thanks for trying it out. Its only by people trying it that the bugs can be found and eliminated.

I've added a few things to my TODO list that need to be fixed. If you could figure out whats up with the mythcenter theme, which button is out of bounds, that would be great.

Thanks, Paul H.

chopsuey

Could you show me the streaminfo.xml file that caused this error.

It will be in one of the directories of the 'work' directory which is in the temp directory you told mytharchive to use.

I tried to reproduce the error by doing the exact same thing and for some reason it completed without errors this time. I popped the DVD into my DVD player and everything looked great. If I come across this error again I will make sure to send you the streaminfo.xml file.

Paulh: I'm in the process of a move right now, but as soon as I have my myth box running again, I'll try to reproduce the issue.
