After auto installing everything works except that its says that it can't find the backend. It asks whether i have the right IP

So what IP are you supposed to put in the backend field if the frontend is for example 192.168.1.109?

I am using just one box so i need the frontend and backend right?

Needless to say i am new to this whole scene, so if you could spare an explantion of the whole backend/frontend thing I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks for your time.

If you are using a single box, combined front and back end system, then usually the default loopback (127.0.0.1) address is Ok.

A front end is the program the user interacts directly with to view, schedule etc. The backend is the program that runs in the background and records stuff when scheduled etc.

well that seemed to clear things up

I have another problem now.
I subscribed to the zap2it serice and put the information in the proper setup screen. Then i did the mythfill....etc. command and then restarted the backend.
After going back into mythtv and selecting the program guide nothing is displayed at all.

I don't have a capture card in yet, should that have anything to do with it?
Thanks again.
