Apparently the MythTV folks are expecting the 0.20 release this weekend. How long after that will it take to get another KnoppMyth build? |

http://svn.mythtv.org/trac/milestone/0.20 Looks like it may well be ready, unless someone reopens a ticket. |

It's hard to say, but it should be out before Christmas. ![]() As this project is a volunteer effort by Cesman and Dale in their spare time they don't like to be pested for release dates. Also they like to run things by their beta testers first to work out any glitches before releasing it to the public. |

So I guess we are back to the original question... Wonder how long it will take to get .20 in the normal KnoppMyth distribution? Thanks, Mark |

Uh-oh, Those are the questions that invoke the wrath of Cesman.Seriously, In another thread he points out... Quote: Later this evening or tomorrow, I'll post info on building 0.20 for those that want it... There won't be an ISO release with 0.20 until I've solved a few issues w/ D1. Patience...
After that the .20 howto gets posted, try installing over .19 and post feedback/fixes to work out the bugs. |

Post subject: | is 0.20 compile the same as svn process? |
So, are the steps for compiling and installing 0.20 the same as an svn compile shown here? (As I write this, the wiki page details how to update to version 0.19 svn) http://knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page ... hTVFromSVN I've downloaded the 3 bz2 files that make 0.20 and untarred them into /usr/src/mythtv20. Would I now go right to the "Configure" step shown in the wiki page and start compiling with the "--prefix=/usr"? Eric |

It all depends if there were any database changes. Normally when there is a milestone release there are some database changes. I thought I saw mention of atleast one in the .20 changelog link. If there aren't any then it might be ok, but if there are you might really hose things. You'll also have to update mythweb, which might be a pain too. My advice is to wait, or if you really want it give it a try just be sure to backup first, because you probably will hose your system, or at minimum loose some of the added knoppmyth features, especially those in mythweb, which may be a pain in itself to upgrade. |

I've updated the wiki to show 0.20 and also added a few notes. I've compiled it myself and it works fine, though I've changed plenty of things on my system (migrated to the stable apt sources + security updates, added sarge-backports for various things such as the xorg X server, added a few unstable packages, removed a load of stuff I didn't need, etc. -- you can *easily* hose your system doing this) so your mileage may vary. Personally, unless you really know what you're doing (and even if you do), I'd recommend waiting for Cecil to update his deb packages and using them: it'll take less time, be a lot smoother and much, much less hassle ![]() |

I too have upgraded to the new mythtv .20. It is a nice upgrade. I don't use knoppmyth anymore instead I do my own installs starting with Arch linux. I didn't have any trouble converting the databse from .19 to .20 (always remember to back it up first). One of the new features I really like is the ability to backup recording directly to a DVD. It is much easier than using nuvexport and the finished DVD has a nice menu to select the saved recordings. Way COOL!!! |

There have been some issues reported with the new internal player used to playback recordings, videos, and by default, DVDs. Mplayer and Xine seem to be working ok though, so if you do install .20, and are experiencing weird playback (especially HD content), you know what to change. |
