Post subject:  Problem check-list

First off, i would like to thank everyone who keeps this site alive! It has been a great help!

now onto my problems (hardware config to follow)

i have listed these in no particular order, they are all on-going.

1. Program guide is off by one channel:
The guide is shifted one channel forward. (i.e. showing channel 35's lineup on 36's row). the info seems to be acurate, but it's just one the wrong line ... so, the OSD is also wrong. any ideas at all would be good, i have found NO reference to this AT ALL yet.

2. Remote not working:
what is the best way to identify the remote i have so can make more efficient searches (here on the boards, as well as lists, etc.) on getting it to work?

3. Picture Quality:
i am currently researching the "fuzzy picture" problem with the PVR-500 MCE. I think if i put enough time in i'l find an answer :? but if anyone knows of an "end-all beat-all" resource, i'll be glad to go have a look.

4. Also as an afterthought: Is there a good way to get the detailed information about my hardware? like a report i can run? I really want to be as accurate as i can when i have questions i need answered.

thanx again!

The troubleshooting pages on the wiki would be a good plae to start for most of these:

On the remote, if you got it with the PVR-500 as a kit, it's almost certainly one of the USB connected MCE remotes.

As for the off by one problem, this usually means you hosed your lineup tables somehow, "scanning" for SDTV channels is a very common way of doing this for zap2it users. The recommended cure is usually to drop your "Video Source(s)" and recreate them. See the wiki page about getting back into mythtv-setup for this.
