Search for info on the KRP Dragon. Look for the Tier 1 postings by human. This is a very capable prebuilt system and the official "reference platform".

In general the Tier 1 and even Tier 2 postings are a good place to start. These are supposed to be completed "recipes" for building a working KnoppMyth system. In Tier 1 the premise is that you just assemble it using the parts listed, insert the install CD and follow the bouncing ball.

I never got my dragon system for resale working... mostly for sound...I am back after not being able to pay detailed attention for a few months. Like a sports car, high performance needs attention and tuning. Bottom line i can see and record HDTV off the air, the Dragon does that.
Unfortunatly after attending recent ISF classes, and being certified video crazy eggspurt, one of 3 in Maine, the Chevrolet of M$ will be jammed down the consumers throats, and they will like it, DRM and everything accepted through xbox or other convienient platforms. Join EFF.
Google EFF. Got money? I'll ISF calibrate your front screen to 19" HD system... night

IMO, if you can do that you can do can build your own box. Just takes a little patience and learning. Definitely try to stay with the Tier one recommendations for hardware. The Dragon is pretty pricey ($1,100+) but if you've got the time, patience and will to learn a bit about linux you can build your own much cheaper.

Again, try and stay with the Tier one recommendations, avoid VFD/LCD displays, wireless network cards, etc unless you really want to start learning more about linux.

Have fun :D

It's important to note that the Chaintech AV-710 used in all Dragons (1.0, 1.1, 2.0) for digital audio uses known-good drivers and configurations. The key to keeping it working is simply to resist the urge to tweak the default audio configuration :)

I have to say that there's really no attention and tuning required on Dragons. That's the whole point of KRP. Each KnoppMyth prerelease is tested on Dragons to make sure that releases integrate well and requires as little user input as possible. Some of our customers are very nontechnical and have benefited greatly from our automation and default configurations, especially for digital audio.
