We've tried everything! We've gotten to the point where the frontend can see everything that's recorded on the backend, but when we select a recording to play it says that the file can not be found. Has anyone else had this problem? It seems I've tried everything and nothing is working, it seems so close too!

Check if mythbackend and mythfrontend are running from user 'mythtv'. Sounds like you've got problems with the access rights of your recordings in '/myth/tv'.
