I'm using MythTV .20 with ivtv .8 and whenever I view TV or recordings it seems like the picture is squished horizontally, like instead of the usual 640x480 it's showing everything at 480x480. I've tried adjusting the recording profiles to 640x480, and v4l2-ctl shows:

Format:
Type : Video Capture
Width/Height : 640/480
Pixel Format : MPEG
Field : Interlaced
Bytes per Line: 0
Size Image : 131072
Colorspace : Broadcast NTSC/PAL (SMPTE170M/ITU601)

So I know it's coming through 640x480... but whenever I play the stream through Mythtv or just with mplayer -monitoraspect 16:9 /dev/video0 it's compressed.

I'm running a PVR-500 connected to an LCD tv running at 1360x768. Other video playback seems to work fine, it's only the TV that doesn't look right. Any help would be appreciated.
