I have been doing some digging and have come up with nothing with regards to show reruns.

What settings need to be checked to stop a "season pass" (TiVo term) from recording reruns of the show (Like CSI)? I only want the new airings to be recorded for some of my shows as I have seen all the other ones.

Cartoons are fine if the reruns are recorded. They are even funnier the second time around

Any suggestions on how to get this done?

The settings you want are "Check for duplicates in" & "Duplicate Check method".

If you have already recorded the old episodes with mythtv set the following:

If mythtv has not recorded the old episodes but you still don't want to record them set:

This flag depends on the guide data to be accurate. I find it to be a bit shaky for many shows
