Post subject:  Can VIDEO_TS be read in Media Library?

I've copied some of my DVDs on my hard drive (DVD to VIDEO_TS folder with DVD shrink). Video manager detected VIDEO_TS folders and I was able to get the IMDB profile.
When I go in Media Library, I see the movies I've just added but nothing happens when I try to watch one of them. It stays on then movie form. Is it supposed to work? Or do I need to transcode DVDs in DivX?

I think my version is R5C7 (it says Myth version : 0.1920060121-2), and I read this version has several bugs.

(bugs I also have:
- I can't use my LCD displays, mythfrontend crashes when LCDd is loaded
- I can't rip any DVD
- I can't transcode any recordings.
)

I'd like to upgrade to last version but I'm afraid to lost my videos and recordings.

I would suggest an upgrade. Do some reading about knoppmyth's excellent auto-upgrade feature. You will not lose any recordings. 0.20 supports VIDEO_TS in MythVideo.

In R5C7 the default player is mplayer, which does this. Check your File Types menu under Video Settings to make sure you have a vob and VIDEO_TS section defined.

For the LCD, what type do you have? Check you're running the correct version (LCDproc 4.5) or compile it yourself and modify the startup/shutdown screens ;). Check you're running the correct driver with the correct settings.

I haven't needed to ripped DVD's from myth yet.

Can you manual transcode?

Nice case. How'd the VIDEO_TS go?

With the VFD you'll probably need to use HD44780 driver in LCDd.conf.

ConnectionType=winamp (worked for mine)
Size=16x2

So start up LCDd without mythfrontend running and see if you can connect to it with lcdproc, just to check your settings and hardware are fine.

For the VIDEO_TS folder, it doesn't work at all. I converted all VIDEO_TS folder I have in DivX and now it works.

VFD did work perfectly with old version of KnoppMyth. I've written the How-to for parallel VFD in the wiki.

I can make it light on and lcdproc works fine. But I put "LCD on" in the mythfrontend setup, mythfrontend crashes with error "segment fault" (something like that).

Actually I have already spoken about this subject in another topic

I think My knoppmyth version is very buggy. I should upgrade to new one.
