Post subject:  upnp media server myth 0.20 problems

I just got a Linksys wireless Medialink Internet media player from Santa and was impressed to find that mythtv showed up as a media server without me having to even think of how to do this. I can navigate to the recordings and more specifically the music using the media player however when I attempt to play the track I get a track not found error. Does anyone have any experience with the new upnp media server functionality on Myth .20? Any ideas what might be causing this problem? I am thinking about installing a upnp client software on my laptop to see if I can track down the root of the problem but, I thought I would check here to see if anyone could help.

I think the problem may be the nupplevideo container file format that the recordings are stored in (but this is just a hunch :? ). I have a Buffalo Link Theater, and it plays the recordings fine, but hiccups on fast forwarding.

I am just trying to play the music and playlists created by mythmusic. I think that the problem actually lies in the upnp not being updated to use the current database schema that is used in 0.20. I have downloaded the source code from the svn and from the little bit that I have looked at it it looks like it is using the old tables. Also in my old setup the lists of tracks used to show some of my music but nothing that was recently added and some of the links were dead on some of the files. After I did a fresh reinstall in attempt to correct some problems I was having none of the tracks are listed. Because all the old tables are blank now.

My D-Link DSM-520 won't see my music. Does anybody have a D-Link player that works properly? What could my problem be?

My linksys media player doesn't work either. I tried getting the latest svn release of mythtv which has some updates to the upnp code but, now my linksys just hangs when I try to connect to the mythtv's media server. I know it isn't the Linksys media player itself because I can use MusicMatch Jukebox's upnp media server just fine.

I tried GMediaServer and my songs play, but I don't like the idea of running two servers for this purpose. Hopefully, it'll get fixed soon.

The problem is with MythTV's uPnP server, not your player. I've loaded SVN, and the music is now available. You can either compile SVN, or wait for 0.21, and your troubles should be over. Regards, Rob

OK, thanks. I guess I'll wait for stuff to be updated, I don't wanna break anything.
