Just finished installing Knoppmyth R5F27. I set up the channel listings & everything looked good.
Using the MythWeb function, I am able to search for shows and schedule them so that they show up in the "recording Schedules" section, however after scheduling them, when I look in the “upcoming recordings’ page there are no shows scheduled to record.
I know that there are episodes to be recorded in the next 14 days but nothing is showing up. Also a browse of the listings shows that none of the shows I had scheduled are set to be recorded.

Did you set up your input-connections in myth setup? To enter myth setup hit "ALT s" on the keyboard of your myth machine. Select "4. input connections" and make sure that your tuner is associated with the correct video source.

Thanks for the quick reply. Actually You are partly right. I could not associate the card because it is not recognizing it (though it should. It worked fine before moving to Knoppmyth)
Having done this a few times now, I have a much better understanding of how it works...
1 – General setup
2 – Setup capture card
3 – Setup guide data
4 – Associate capture card with guide data
5 – Profit! Er… watch tv
Anyway when I go to setup the capture card in menu option 2 of the backend GUI I get the following:
Card Type – MPEG 2 encoder card (PVR X50…) - (I have the PVR - 250)
Video device field is blank with no options
Probed info field shows “Failed to open
Default Input shows “Television
I have tried simply to edit the existing card, creating a new card, and deleting all cards and starting from scratch. Nothing worked. Then I went for broke and reinstalled the entire Knoppmyth from the original CD. Same problem.
I considered that maybe the card is hosed but before I go pulling it and re-seating it or even buying new I thought I would ask for advice. Could this be a driver issue?
Thanks again!

Probed info of "failed to open" and showing a default input of "Television" indicate a problem. If the device & driver are working the probed info will give you the name of the card and there won't be an input choice of "Television" for a PVR-250. (The proper default input will be "Tuner1".)
There are several possible issues -- here are some things to explore:
1. Make sure you have the right device name in the "Video device" field. I believe it should be "/dev/video0" if you only have 1 tuner, but try cycling through all of the "/dev/video#" names to see if any of them return a proper "probed information" result.
2. Do you have more than 1 tuner card, and if so, are they of differing types? If the answers are "yes", then you may be dealing with the udev issue. If this is your situation, the solution is describe in this wiki article.
3. Try moving the tuner to a different PCI slot.
4. I seem to recall there being issues where sometimes the card is not properly recognized and that a manual tweak is required. I don't recall if the info is in the forums of wiki -- you'll need to search for it, or perhaps someone else will see this and post a link to the article that describes the problem.

For the benefit of the next newbie who is having similar problems and finds this thread, what exactly was the problem?
It's also nice to back to the head post and update the title with something like "- solved" or "- fixed".

Hate to admit it...
The capture card came lose when I moved the box.
Re seated the card and worked fine.
However I now have a new problem.
Using a Radeon 9600 SE card in a previously working install.
R5F27
Display is fine (both TV watching and menus) when hooked up to a computer monitor via VGA connection.
However when I shut down te system and reconnect it to my tv via an S video connection the display, both menu and tv watching are distorted beyond recognition. ..

I noticed from some of your other posts that you were trying to find a way to obtain guide data without subscribing to SchedulesDirect, so I guess my first questions are
1. How are you obtaining guide data?
2. Do you see the guide data from either mythweb or the frontend?
