I am trying to swap out media playback from Mplayer -> VLC. I had it working on a prior install, but I never wrote the settings down. I know for the most part the player command should be something like

vlc file://%s

Thats for the basic, but adding fullscreen etc can make it a lot different of a command line. Just wondering what the overall best line to use is?

Code:
vlc --help | more
within an xterm will show you all of the options.

try:
Code:
vlc --fullscreen %s vlc:quit

the vlc:quit part will quit vlc when your video is over. launch vlc via the xterm and edit key bindings for the rest (ie, esc to quit, volume, etc.).
