Post subject:  No on screen information after upgrade to R5E50 - FIXED

I have just up graded my KnoppMyth from R5B7 to the new R5E50. First I want to thank the entire Knoppmyth Team! You all rock and I love the new changes and improvements.

I had a couple of problems during to upgrade but the Great write up from TJC got those problems solved.

Ok so here is my problem, and I think it is actually 2 problems together.

When I go to live TV or a recorded program I do not get the on screen information (channel, program name), I don’t get any of it. Even when changing the volume, nothing. When viewing live tv I can get the menu (pressing m), and I get the on screen program guide. This problem is the one that I am more worried about.

My other problem is that I restored my lircrc config file and some of the buttons work correctly, but not all of them. For example my volume buttons do not work.

If someone could please help me with the first problem or point me in the right that direction that would be Cool!!

Were you using the Isthmus OSD theme? The spelling (capitalization) change mentioned in the upgrade hints might be biting you.

In any case try going into the setup menus in the frontend and under TV Playback (I think) and switching your OSD theme to something else, and then back.

Hay there tjc,

I just switched from the Isthmus theme. I decided to switch it to blootube-wide theme. I like the new theme, but this still did not fix my problem. Any other ideas that I can try?

Did you change the OSD theme under Utilities/Setup -> Setup -> TV -> Playback -> 3rd or 4th screen (I forget...). If you picked a wide theme, are you outputing to a 9:16 display?

You are so on it. That fixed the problem completely!

Now I will work on the remote control issue.
